Blackwell has been awarded the full Balance of Plant contract by Infinis for the Tedder Hill wind farm project in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Blackwell has been awarded the full Balance of Plant contract by Infinis for Blackstone Edge Wind Farm in South Yorkshire.

Part of the Blackwell Group, Renaissance Land Regeneration Ltd has successfully obtained planning consent for a 36,000 sqft residential development at the old gasworks in Frome, Somerset.  The site will be brought forward for development after remediation to deal with the legacy of gas production.

Blackwell sponsored a ‘Women Working in Construction’ (WWiC) charity event in May, the event held at the Brasshouse in Birmingham involved a pub quiz theme attended by contractors and consultants and thanks to everyone who attended, managed to raise over £400 for the charity ‘Living Springs’ based in Stourbridge.

Company personnel working on our Carraig Gheal Wind Farm site in Oban recently supported the local primary school in Kilchrenan as they took part in the National Spring Clean, clearing rubbish from roadsides around Kilchrenan village.

Blackwell are pleased to have been appointed by Atkins as a sub-consultant for earthmoving advice for the preliminary design phase of the Country South Section of HS2.  The contract covers the design of approximately 91km of the HS2 route through Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire which includes the Colne Valley viaduct and the Chilterns tunnelling.

Blackwell has just successfully completed another section of beach recycling and replenishment along the coastline at Deal and Kingsdown Beach.

C A Blackwell (Contracts) Ltd was recently awarded a position on the latest of the Environment Agency’s Minor Works Framework for the South East Region. 

Blackwell are pleased to have delivered to the council this new household recycling facility on time and to budget, the site was formally opened on 1st March by Councillor Alan Grant and is already providing tangible benefits to the council.

C A Blackwell has purchased its first Bell wheeled loader to fulfil an earthmoving contract for Aggregate Industries.

Blackwell are working for the Homes and Communities Agency on the repair of a sheet-piled river wall on the River Thames, next to the O2 Arena, in the shadow of Canary Wharf. Construction commenced in early February 2012 and is on schedule to better the mid-March completion date.

With the provision of safety exclusion zones adjacent to the wall and specific environmental procedures due to the nature of the site, Blackwell have to date carried out the successful sequential insertion of new tie-rods and tensioning to the anchor beam.

Blackwell is part of the East Kent Engineering Partnership Framework and has been contracted by Shepway District Council for its three year beach renourishment programme between Hythe and Folkestone. This week has seen the start of Blackwell's third Campaign on the beach. The five week campaign sees Blackwell's 40t dump trucks hauling around 40,000m3 over three kilometres along the beach. The dump trucks are equipped with innovative telematic weigh loaders which are used to monitor the performance of the operation in real time from both the offices of the Council and Blackwell Head Office in Essex.

Just like the real TV programme, Year 4 at Brook Primary School in Stourbridge, West Midlands have been competing for top places in the school's version of Dragons' Den and, just like the real thing, pupils had to convice a panel of judges that their invention was the winner!

In conjunction with the Dudley Education Business Partnership, Blackwell was asked to be one of the Dragons.

Blackwell secure the Balance of Plant Contract for the Carraig Gheal wind farm in Argyllshire for Greenpower Ltd. Project includes design and build of a 20 turbine wind farm and 36km new forest access road and is due for completion in December 2012.

Blackwell take delivery of a new 70tonne Volvo EC700C excavator to initially be deployed to our Carraig Gheal wind farm scheme.

Blackwell secure the Balance of Plant Contract for the Withernwick wind farm in East Yorkshire for EnergieKontor Ltd. Project includes design and build of a 9 turbine wind farm with a 66Kv grid connection and is due for completion in Spring 2013.

New regional office in Tewkesbury opened to spearhead Blackwell’s commitment to the Midlands and South West markets.

Blackwell use offsite construction techniques for the concrete structures on their Oakenshaw Flood scheme project.
